@G nice memories, written in a nice style! If you'll continue like this, even I might become a musclecar fan.

Mentioned editor doesn't only have this effect on you, for me he is almost a reverse life-coach, so irritating that in more than one occasion I've been tempted to cancel my subscription to the magazine (I think Huib actually has! For exactly the same reason!).

I would vote you to be his successor any day. You've definitively got a sweet pen that appeals to our generation of petrolheads: the last of the romantics ;)

Dig, kudos, +1, Yes!: The story lines, the connections, the references. This post truly is a dynamic blob of mercury, flowing in different directions, reflecting car culture through the years. A highlight!
And about that Taunus with the vinyl roof: stylish nowadays thanks to Gene Hunt.

@All: Too much honour! I know I tend to get carried away sometimes. Thanks for calling that romantic :)

Dude! So many memories reawakened. I had the King size Matchbox
'Drag-pack' as well. Toy cars played a major part of my younger life and lit the burning desire in me to become a car designer.
Nice story and well written, thanks.

Geert

For those who got the itch after reading the story - here's your chance: http://bringatrailer.com/2010/07/21/bat-exclusive-1968-mercury-cougar-xr-7/comment-page-1/#comment-167222
